Clinicians face questions regarding the choice of effective treatment, proper diagnostic and prognostic strategies, and accurate disease causation on a daily basis. Epidemiology provides answers by examining the distribution of health and morbidity including their determinants in populations. Therefore, epidemiology is a scientific discipling increasingly asked for in clinical (human, pharmaceutical or veterinary) research, industry and policymaking.
